Celebrating Our Reach: Boyne City, Michigan

This summer, Liz Letcher Marsh ’05, Naz alumna, Events Manager and (hopefully!) future Naz Parent, took a little trip to the top of a rather big mountain. Along with her husband, three kids and newest family member, their dog, Bo, she created memories to last a lifetime.

“I graduated from Nazareth Academy in 2005. All of the Letcher siblings went through Naz, and the Naz experience remains a huge part of my life. Not only do I hope that my own children will one day be Roadrunners, I also have the privilege of working alongside my Naz Family as the Events Manager. It’s truly a pleasure to be able to coordinate meaningful experiences for Naz students, parents and alumni alike in support of our mission.

I find that Nazareth has a way of sneaking into the most unexpected moments in life. This summer, I brought my kids to Boyne Mountain in Boyne City, Michigan, where we planned to ride a chairlift up to the top of the mountain. I have a fear of heights, and my son and daughter have inherited that fear. After talking a lot about conquering our fears and educating ourselves about things bigger than we are – literally and figuratively – we stepped into the chairlift and made it to the top!

It was a moment that reflected Nazareth’s mission to educate the whole person – in this case not just inside the classroom, but also outside of it. The perfect weather helped us remember what God has made as we looked out over the mountain and saw how beautiful it was. Bringing my Nazareth love and spirit to the top of a literal mountain felt amazing!”
